Christina Seely - terra systema. momentum

Assistant Professor Christina Seely's solo show terra systema. momentum is opening on Thursday 9/28 at EUQINOMprojects in San Francisco. It debuts work made through her travels over the last two summers to Greenland with Ross Virginia and the Institute of Arctic Studies JSEP program. She will also show work made through a Faculty Travel Grant, and support from the Neukom Institute at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Station on the Island of Barro Colorado in Panama.

From EQUINOMprojects:
"Seely's most recent body of work transmogrifies the tropical rainforest and the melt of the Greenland ice sheet into respective respiratory and circulatory systems, scaling the planetary to the human body. Using the roles that the arctic and tropical ecosystems play in our imagining and understanding of the planet, the work connects the singular system of self to the whole of the earth. Seely began the project in 2016 at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Station on the island of Barro Colorado in the Panama Canal."
