Call for Student Art Project Proposals
The Class of 1968 has made a gift to fund an up-front award of $5000 for talented undergraduate artists (individual or team) to underwrite costs for new or in-progress creative arts work.
Eligible candidates will be Dartmouth juniors, sophomores, or freshmen taking courses in Studio Art. Applicants will be required to submit a detailed application outlining the scope, scale, cost, and schedule of the work.
The department faculty will be judging project proposals, selecting the winner, and supervising the progress of the chosen work. Awardees will be assigned an advisor.
Awardees are asked to make two presentations of their work to the Class of 1968: a midway update on its progress and a final presentation at the end of the award period.
The proposed schedule for the Project Green Light Award:
Prize announcement w/(initial) call for proposals: October 15, 2024
Submission deadline: January 16, 2025
Award announcement: February 16, 2025
Progress report: mid-May 2025
Completion: September 30, 2025
Presentation: October 15, 2025
Project Green Light proposals must include:
—A one-page 200–500-word statement that address the describes the project and how it is characterized by innovation, imagination, and cultural relevance. Risk taking, collaboration, and experimentation are encouraged and should be addressed in your proposal.
—Ten images or videos of artwork, in any medium, some of which should be produced outside of a Studio Art class. Please add descriptions for each image that includes, name of artwork, year, dimensions, and medium for each person (if a collaborative team.)
—Budget: proposed expenses for the $5000 grant.
