Gina Adam started a new performance-community art project as part of her artist-in-residence at Dartmouth. She is cutting letters for the Treaty of Wyandot 1785 at Barrows Rotunda in the HOP and inviting everyone to help. Once cut, the letters will be placed in the Rotunda windows so that they can be read on the outside. After completion Gina will take the letters to her studio at the Black Family Visual Arts Center and will assemble them in the Broken Treaty Quilt.
On Friday, July 6, Dale Turner, Associate Professor of Government and of Native American Studies, arranged for The Indigenous conference attendees from Australia and New Zealand to come to the Artist-in-Residence studio to help Gina cut letters. They worked together from noon to 3 p.m. and shared a wonderful creative time and interesting conversations.
Gina will continue working in the Rotunda, everyone is welcome to stop by and help her. What a wonderful opportunity to be part of this amazing project!
